It's been a while

Since I've tried

To reconcile

With myself

For my own

Transgressions

For my failure

To make

Good impressions

Even though I tried

But they only see

What they want to see

And nothing can convince

Them to see

The real me

Nothing can enhance

What doesn't shine through

Naturally

That is why

I have to fan my flame

The passion and intensity

burning within me

Can be too hot

To touch

Too hot

To keep in touch

And that's why

It shouldn't matter much
